Private parking on public roads?

I would like to know if a person has the right to reserve a parking space on a public road in front of his house? I live on a public road and my neighbor always parks his car on the street because his house doesn’t have a carport.

He sometime puts chairs on the street to reserve that space for his car and doesn’t allow anyone else to park there overnight. Is he allowed to do that?

    Kangpong, Phuket City.

He is allowed to park his car in that space just as anyone else can, but he cannot reserve the space expressly for himself because it’s a public road.

We have seized many chairs, flower pots and traffic cones from people who have done the same as your neighbor, but they have yet to come and claim them back. If you see that kind of problem, you can report it to us by calling 076-212115.
