Do strict rules apply to jet-skis?

The government has become strict in ensuring that companies and their shareholders are abiding by the law, as has been exemplified by the enforcement of bar closing times. I understand this may have upset some bar owners, but this is the law. But what about the dangerous, noisy and illegal jet-skis? I know that they are illegal and that most foreign tourists don’t like them.

    Wondering, Chiang Mai.

Jet-skis are considered a type of boat. So, every jet-ski has to be registered with the Phuket Harbor Master. There are five beaches in Phuket where boat sports, including jet-skis, are allowed to operate. These are Kata, Karon, Patong, Kamala and Bang Tao. At these beaches, there are floats in the sea that designate specific areas for swimming.

Pol Col Paween Pongsirin, Superintendent of Kathu Police Station.

If jet skis are driven in the specified swimming areas, make excessive noise, are operated in a dangerous manner or are annoying to people, a complaint may be lodged with the local marine or police official, or with the local Municipality.
