Buffaloes in residential areas

I live in Kamala and, until recently, I have been happy. However, not long ago, a man moved his water buffaloes from Patong, where he was kicked out because of zoning regulations, to near my home. When the wind blows from the sea, the smell is absolutely terrible. Besides that, I am concerned about local residents’ health and the spread of leeches and disease, especially foot-and-mouth disease. Are there zoning regulations or laws about keeping buffaloes in a residential area?

    Concerned resident, Kamala.

Buffaloes may not be kept in a village. We have spoken with the owner of the buffaloes, and he has told us that he will move them to somewhere else.

Suwit Dumluk, President, Kamala Tambon Administration Organization.

We have not received any recent reports of buffaloes with foot-and-mouth disease. Owners are required to give the animals foot-and-mouth disease vaccinations every year.
