Dogs on the beach

While I was on holiday in Patong recently, a dog bit me as I was taking off from the beach with a para-sail, and I had to undergo expensive medical treatment. Are dogs allowed on the beach at Patong? If they’re not, it seems that the authorities are not keeping them off the beaches. I think it would be sensible to keep all public beaches free of dogs.

There are no laws that ban dogs from beaches. However, any person who owns a dog must keep the dog on his property. If you have a problem with, say, a rabid dog, you can go to the local municipal office and file a complaint so they can investigate and decide what to do with the dog. Unfortunately, we don’t have the space or the budget to keep strays.
