Maximum height of beachfront buildings

If structures within 50 meters of the high tide mark are not allowed to be taller than six meters, how did the four-story hotel being built on the point between Kata and Karon get permission to be built? Who issued the permit for this project? Will construction of this hotel be stopped?

    TH, Kata Beach.

Karon Municipality is responsible for issuing building permits and monitoring construction in that area. We will need to inspect the hotel before we can say whether construction will be stopped or not. You should send us a letter stating exactly which construction site you would like us to inspect, so the inspection can be conducted formally.
