PHUKET: Thanyapura’s top swimmers triumphed at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, winning a bounty of silver medals and breaking three Thai National Records.

Peerapat Lertsathapornsuk, Patarawadee Kittiya, Kornkanjana Sapianchai and Tanakrit Kittiya competed in ten races at the 28th SEA Games in Singapore earlier this month.

Patarawadee and Kornkanjana returned home to Phuket with two silver medals each, after helping to break the Thai National Records in the 4 x 200m freestyle, 4 x 100m freestyle and 4 x 100m individual medley events.

Peerapat, who has a wildcard to the Rio Olympics 2016, won his individual heat for the 1,500m freestyle by more than 20 meters, but ended up missing the podium with a fourth place finish. Also narrowly missing the podium in the 1,500m freestyle event was Tanakrit, who finished fifth.

“The week was phenomenal. We returned to Phuket with four silver medals, three national record times and a handful of personal bests,” said Miguel Lopez, head of aquatics at Thanyapura.
