PHUKET: Residents of a village in Nakhon Sri Thammarat are queuing up to visit a household where a pig has just given birth to an unusual piglet.

The mother of the “elepig” gave birth to a litter of 15 piglets on March 27.

Of the newborns, 14 were normal. But one, a white female, had some strange characteristics.

It had a “trunk” about three-inches long coming from its snout and large ears like an elephant. It also had a very long tongue, which protruded about one inch from its mouth.

The elepig’s unusual features mean it finds it hard to drink milk from its mother’s teats, so a human has to help it by dripping the milk into its mouth.

The sow’s owner, Chira Setthakan, 37, said that the pig had given birth to several litters before but had never produced a piglet like this.

In customary fashion, villagers want to see the odd little pig in order to use it to divine lottery numbers.

She said the family would do its best to keep the elepig alive for as long as possible. But if it died, she would preserve its corpse – because she believed the creature had been born to bring the family luck.

Whoever sees the photo of the piglet on ice knows it had died. Anyway, do not understand how somebody could go searching for "lucky numbers" looking at an unlucky, handicapped, disfigured and now dead pig. Only "unlucky numbers" to find there, in my opinion. But, that is Thailand. TIT.
